Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Review : Should you buy ?

Last month Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi have launched its much awaited fitness tracker “Mi Band 4”. The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is priced at Rs 2,299 in India.

Note, Xiaomi has launched only the standard version of the wearable band in India. In contrast, Xiaomi launched three variants of wearable in China. These include the standard band, one with NFC sensor and limited edition Avengers Edition Mi Band 4.

Now let’s see feature of Mi Band 4

The biggest physical change of band 4 as compared to band 3 is the display. Mi Band 4 brings in a 0.95-inch colour AMOLED display with a resolution of 120 x 240. The panel is touch-sensitive and also has a gentle 2.5D curve on top.

This band too comes with a removable wrist band that is made of rubber. The capsule on the Mi Smart Band 4 is similar to the Mi Band 3. Wrist band can be interchange on Mi Band 3 and Band 4

Mi Band 4 Screen

This is the first Mi Band that comes with a colored screen. All the previous generation Mi Bands have black and white screens. . It comes with a 0.95-inch AMOLED screen that offers a resolution of 120 x 240 RGB and brightness of up to 400 nits. Brightness levels make it easy and convenient to read content on band’s screen in bright outdoors.

The Mi Band 4 also alerts users about incoming calls and lets them silent or reject calls

Mi Band 4 have retained single touch home button that helps users navigate - go back and forth, choose an option, change settings etc

How to setup Mi Band 4

Mi Band 4 It is compatible with devices running on Android 4.4 and iOS 9.0 or above. The process to setup Mi Band is as follows :

1) Download the Mi Fit app on your smartphone from Google Play Store (Android) and Apple App Store (iOS).

2) Switch on the Bluetooth of the phone and pair with Mi Band

3) Enter details like weight, height, among other things to set up the application. (for fitness tracking)

4) Toggle on the options like incoming call, event reminder, alarm, app alerts, idle alert, among others on the MiFit app. This will ensure Mi Band work seamlessly.

Mi Band 4 Performance

The Mi Band 4 comes with variety of smart fitness features. It tracks heart rate. It monitors sleep. It can also track activities like running, cycling, swimming and other outdoor activities in real-time.

To test the heart rate, user need to long-press the touch button. Mi Smart Band 4 also comes with additional features like Find Your Phone. This feature lets users find their misplaced phone. The Mi Band 4 also vibrates and alerts users about alarms.

The Mi Band 4 can be controlled using the Mi Fit app. Mi Fit app now can turn on the “night mode” which dims the display of the Band 4 automatically at sunset or during the scheduled duration.

Mi Band 4 battery

Like previous generations of band, Mi Band 4 too have good battery life. If features like heart rate sensor and sleep tracking are turned off, Band can go on for 2 weeks on a single charge. Even if these features are tuned ON, still Mi Band 4 will last for more than 10 days in single charge. The charging time of the band is 2 hours.
