Redmi 8 sports a 12-megapixel camera, 5000mAh battery for Rs 7,999

Xiaomi has become a market leader in India in affordable Smartphone segment. Xiaomi has sold 5.3 million devices during its “Diwali With Mi” sale. Out of this, 3.8 million belonged to the smartphone category.

Xiaomi today has launched successor to its hugely popular Redmi 7 budget smartphone, The Redmi 8.

Xiaomi's latest budget smartphone comes in two storage variants-the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage model which costs Rs 7,999 and the 4GB RAM / 64GB internal memory variant which will be available at Rs 8,999. However, to celebrate 100 million Xiaomi smartphone sales in India its 4GB version will be sold for the price of the former, Rs 7,999, for first five million units. The smartphone goes on sale on 12^th October at Flipkart, mi.com, and Mi Home stores across the country

Redmi 8 specifications

The Redmi 8 comes packed with a 6.22-inch full-screen display. The phone comes with an HD+ IPS display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The phone comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor.

Redmi 8 comes with a dual camera setup which houses a 12-megapixel main camera with 1.4 micro pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and Sony IMX363 image sensor. The secondary shooter is a 2-megapixel depth sensor to help with the portraits. Other camera features Google Lens support. Front snapper is an 8-megapixel AI assisted selfie camera.

Redmi 8 sports Xiaomi's Aura Mirror design and will be offered in Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, and Onyx Black colours. Emerald Green colour option will be coming to phone on a later date.

Battery is key highlights of the Redmi 8. Phone comes with a massive 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Other feature includes -- USB Type C, Dual SIM card slot, dedicated microSD card slot (up to 512GB), 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth 4.2

On Security front, Redmi 8 has a rear fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock support.
