Google Pixel 4a : Google’s Newest, Cheapest and Best (?) phone
Google have unveiled its most ambitious
and cheapest product on 3rd August which is a direct competitor to
Apple iPhone SE and One Plus Nord
Yesterday Google have launched
its latest offering which is perhaps its cheapest one too. The new Google Pixel
4 is $50 cheaper its predecessor Google Pixel 3a. Also, this phone is cheaper
than Apple’s iPhone SE which start retail at $399
In April Apple surprised all with
its low cost iPhone SE. and now Google have launched even cheaper phone. This
clearly shows companies are trying to attract customers in their ecosystem in
expense of initial margins.
Now let back to Pixel 4a. The
phone which was launched yesterday only comes in one color: “Just Black”. Also there will be only one "6GB /128GB" configuration. Pixel 4a sports 3.5mm audio jack which has become rarity in new phones.
Google Pixel 4a sports a
5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display with a ‘19.5:9’ aspect ratio. The smartphone has a
single 12MP camera sensor with an f/1.7 aperture with optical image
stabilisation. On the front, the punch-hole camera cutout houses an 8 MP selfie
shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. The camera features include Live HDR+, Night
Sight, Portrait mode, and Dual Exposure Controls.
Even though Pixel 4a have only
single camera sensor, it supports features like portrait mode, HDR Plus and the
unique Night Sight mode that take great shots in low light. Additionally it
also supports the astrophotography mode which helps in photographing stars in the
skies. This feature is exclusive to Pixel series.
It is powered by the
Snapdragon 730G SoC and has a 3,140 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
Even though the battery looks under-powered, pixel series have good battery life
thanks to software optimisation.
Google Pixel 4a will start retail on
20th August 2020 in US. In India it will be launched in October. We
can expect the smartphone to be launched in India between Rs 30,000 and Rs
35,000. It will directly compete with likes of One Plus Nord and Apple iPhone
SE.
