Fraud Alert !! Call Zomato and you may lose money

Zomato has become a household name now. Even in small towns and cities you will find people ordering thru Zomato. But at same time scammers are also taking advantage of this

Most of the companies have Call Centre facility to address grievances of their customers.  But if you are planning to call Zomato for your complaint, then beware. You may end in losing your money. Why? It’s because, Zomato don’t have Call-in facility. Zomato handles queries through “Chat” facility.

Zomato has filed police complaint last month after one of its customers lost her money. One customer from Bengaluru wanted refund and search Google for Zomato’s customer care number.  The person on call had assured full refund and asks her bank account. The gullible customer shared details only to know that her account has been emptied.

The woman had called the number 9134425406. The person on the other end told her that the refund amount could be transferred immediately via Google Pay and she would have to download a mobile application called 'Any Desk’. She followed the directions given to her on call and lost all her bank balance immediately

A case was registered under section 420 (cheating) of IPC and section 66C (identity theft), 66D (impersonation to cheat by using electronic and computer device) of the IT Act.
